Anje Maurice Kahlil Anderson, a resident of the D.C. metro area since 2002, most recently of Springfield, Va., died May 16, 2014, at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital of complications from renal disease. He was 32 years old.Mr. Anderson was born in 1982 in Greensboro, N.C., and raised in Killeen where he met his wife, Brandi, nee Abercrombie, and attended Ellison High School.
He joined the U.S. Navy in October 2000 and served for six years, first in California and Texas for training and then as a cryptologic technician at Fort Meade, Md. He earned his bachelor’s degree in general studies from Excelsior College.Upon separation from the Navy, he worked for the Department of Homeland Security and then joined the Department of Defense as a civilian analyst in 2007. He also gained acceptance to Georgetown University’s law school and completed numerous courses through evening studies.His civilian service included a nine-month deployment to Afghanistan in 2011-2012.
Mr. Anderson enjoyed heavy metal music, especially Nine Inch Nails, and most recently Christian rock music. He aspired to be a guitar player.Survivors include his wife, Brandi Anderson; son, Soren Anderson; father, Carol Anderson of Killeen; sister, Anjenique Anderson of Dallas; and brother, Christian of High Point, N.C.
