August von B. Millard, Naval attaché, 73, a retired Navy captain who had served as Naval Attaché jointly to Finland and Estonia, and earlier to India, died 27 September at his home in Alexandria of non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Captain Millard was born in Portland, Maine. He had lived in the Washington area off and on since the 1960s, in Alexandria and at a farm in Charlotte Hall, Md. In 1992 he retired from the Navy after 30 years of service. Afterward, he accompanied his wife Elisabeth, a political officer in the U.S. Senior Foreign Service on assignments to Europe, Asia and Africa. He is survived by his wife Elisabeth, their five children and four grandchildren. A memorial service was held at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in Alexandria on 4 October. Burial information will be made available once it is received.
