Still Serving in Defense of the Nation

GEORGE EDWARDS FINDLAY, JR George Edwards Findlay, Jr., 78 of St. James, passed away on August 9, 2018 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham. Mr. Findlay was born November 8, 1939 in Massachusetts, the son of the late George and Dorothy Findlay. George was a veteran of the US Army and graduated from Rutgers University in 1965. Following college, Mr. Findlay joined the Defense Intelligence Agency working at NPIC, National Photo Interpretation Center. George also earned an M.P.A. at Auburn University in 1975. He later transferred to the Pentagon where he worked for 22 years as an Intelligence Analyst. He finished his career as the head of a NATO Intelligence team and retired in 1998. George moved to St. James in 1999 where he met Nancy Buscaglia from Williamsville, NY. who had retired there in 2000. George and Nancy were married in the St. James Chapel in 2001. George will be remembered for his quick wit, love of golf, travel, laughter, fine wine, music, good friends, Italian cuisine and family beach gatherings. Survivors include his wife Nancy; a son Greg Findlay of Queenstown, MD; a daughter Sarah Findlay of Crownsville, MD; his twin brother, Peter W. Findlay and wife Colleen of Afton Hills, MN; a sister Janet Givens of Orono, ME; and four granddaughters, Grace, Georgianna, Gabrielle, and Elizabeth. 
A celebration of George's life will be held at St. James Plantation from 4:00-7:00 pm on Saturday, August 25th at the Members Club Ballroom, 3779 Members Club Blvd. Southport, NC 28461.
