Still Serving in Defense of the Nation

George Walter Price

ELLSWORTH - George Walter Price, 66, passed away from complications of lung cancer on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, surrounded by loving family and friends at one of his favorite places:  Acadia National Park. George was born in Waterville, on Aug. 31, 1948, the son of Donald and Harriett (Hinckley) Price. He attended Good Will-Hinckley School, graduated from Bowdoin College and received his Doctorate from George Washington University.

George worked as an analyst for the Department of Defense, where he received numerous commendations during his lengthy career. After he retired from the government, he worked with the Department of Homeland Security as a consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton. He also served as an officer in the U.S. Navy reserves for 26 years and was proud of his career of service to his country. George's service continued with his volunteer work, and he was especially proud of his accomplishments as president of the Hemophilia Association of the Capital Area.

Family was the most important thing in George's life, and he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda (Morgan) Price; sons Jeffrey Price (Beth Niehaus) and Gregory Price (Margaret Barusch); granddaughter Cassandra Price; and a large extended family. The family would like to express their gratitude for the outstanding staff at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth and their exceptional compassion and care.

Burial services will be held at Good Will-Hinckley Cemetery, 16 Prescott Dr., Hinckley, on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015, at 1 p.m., with a reception following at Governor's Restaurant, 376 Main St., Waterville. Arrangements are by Lawry Brothers, 107 Main Street, Fairfield. An online guestbook may be signed and memories shared at www.lawrybrothers.com.

There will be a memorial service to celebrate his life at St. Phillips's Catholic Church (in Falls Church, just inside the Beltway off route 50/Arlington Blvd) on Monday, 24 August at 1200.  Please spread the word to folks who knew George.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Life With Cancer, 8411 Pennell St., Fairfax, Virginia 22031;
the Hemophilia Association of the Capital Area, 10560 Main St., Suite 309, Fairfax, Virginia 22030; or another charity of your choice.
