Mr. Harry Nakano, retired DIA Senior Intelligence Officer, on 22 August in Honolulu, with his family by his side. Harry, was known as a really decent person... caring, considerate, competent, and an absolute living legend in all things related to Japan.
Harry worked in Japan at Yokota Air Base, starting in the early 1980's, and did subsequent tours in Hawaii and in Tokyo. He was a Det Chief upon his retirement a few years ago, with a career spanning 30+ years in Air Force, Army, and DIA HUMINT.
Harry Nakano did more to improve Japanese-American intel relationships than any other person since the end of WW II, with the possible exception of his predecessor and mentor, the legendary Army Civilian Mr. Harry Fukuhara.
Sayonara Nakano-san, rest in peace.
