Still Serving in Defense of the Nation

Helen M. Allgeyer, 90, of Singer Island, Fla., passed away on 22 August. She was a former resident of McLean and Greenville. SheworkedfortheDepartmentofDefenseinthe Washington metropolitan area for 43 years. She received a number of prestigious awards, including the DIA Torch Bearer’s Award for her exceptional service. One of the first 250 civilians transferred from the military services to DIA, Allgeyer’s contributions to planning and directing intelligence production, integrating DIA’s capabilities with the military services and combatant commands, and identifying the role of technology to produce accurate and accessible information for the customer remain as relevant today as they were when she established the framework. Helen is survived by her husband James, brother Jack Looser, sister Jane Cooper and other younger relatives. Memorial Service and burial information is not available at this time.
