James Edward Pyer, 75, of Casper, Wyoming passed away August 27, 2017 at Central Wyoming Hospice in Casper, Wyoming. He was born on January 30, 1942 in Youngstown, Ohio and graduated from Poland Seminary High School On June 5, 1960.
Jim enlisted in the Air Force in 1960 and served four years at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska. He married Betty Jean Wagner on January 12, 1963. After serving in the Air Force, they moved to Washington, D.C. where he worked for DIA at the Pentagon. In 1978 he and his family moved to Worland, Wyoming where he owned a landscaping and floral business. In 1988 he and Betty divorced, and Jim moved back to northern Virginia to resume his position at DIA. In 1989 he married Linda Dean Shoemaker. He retired from DIA in 2000 and resided in Virginia until 2013 when he returned to Wyoming to be near his daughter.
Jim is survived by his children, Doug (Cheri) Pyer of New Hope, PA, Terry (Sid) Pyer of Worland, Wyoming, and Tammy (John) Michael of Casper, Wyoming; and his grandchildren, Ryan, Amy, Shelsi, Stephen (Shawn), and Shannan Pyer, and Bryant and Cody Michael. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Jaxson, Jerzee, and Axton Pyer, and Zerena Skogen-Michael. He was preceded in death by his wife Linda in October of 2012.
