Dr. Jeffrey Moore, discussed his book: The Thai Way of Counterinsurgency at the 23 September ‘Meet the Author’ event at DIA Headquarters. Jeff Moore, CEO of Muir Analytics, earned his PhD from the UK’s University of Exeter in 2011. In his book he describes Thai counterinsurgency (COIN) strategies, operations, and tactics for three wars ranging from the war against communist insurgents (1965-85); southern separatists (1980-1998); and southern separatists/Islamist jihadists (2004-present). Moore also discussed major Thai defense and political personalities and the impact of their leadership on military, political, and economic operations. Building on the work of others he devised his own Indications and Warning (I&W) monitoring and operational decision-making model for strategizing and executing IW/COIN operations. His views are especially relevant for understanding Thailand, Southeast Asia, and China during America’s “Asia pivot”. Dr. Moore provided his copyrighted power point presentation for DIAA members to view on our website.
