In October’s DIAA Log we announced our new LinkedIn Group. Today, I’d like to explain to you what this group is, how it works, and how you can join if you wish.
While social media giant Facebook is used by some people for professional networking, LinkedIn was established specifically as a professional networking platform. Today LinkedIn is the primary networking site used by professionals, including government professionals, and businesspersons in the United States as well as many other countries.
Beginning in early 2014 members in DIAA began to show interest in creating a LinkedIn group for DIAA members. They wanted a forum for our members who use LinkedIn to stay in touch, network, share ideas, information and articles or otherwise communicate with each other.
We created the DIAA Private Group as both a “private” group and an “unlisted” group with our membership’s privacy and security in mind. Some of the key attributes of the DIAA Private Group include:
- Everything posted in the group is visible only to other members of the group.
- Nobody outside of the group can see who is a member of the group.
- Nobody outside of the group can see the group in the LinkedIn Group Directory.
In order to join the group, all you need is a LinkedIn account and to be “invited” by our LinkedIn group administrators. We encourage anyone interested in joining the group to let me know at: https://www.linkedin.com/in/beirnejd or just respond to this email.
If you do not have a LinkedIn account but are interested in more information, please let me know.
